SUSTAINABLE AGROFORESTRY
MULTI-INDEX REMOTE SENSING FOR MONITORING AGROFORESTRY SYSTEMS IN THE KOWEN REGION, ACT
This project combines high-resolution topographic and spectral analysis to inform land management decision in the Kowen, ACT.

It uses multispectral data from the Sentinel 2b satellite to measure vegetation health and monitor environmental dynamics, while incorporating high-resolution elevation data from Geoscience Australia.

These datasets were used to calculate the change in key spectral indices that measure various elemental characteristics from Jan 2024 to Jan 2025.
NDVI measures chlorophyll health, NDMI assesses moisture within plants, MSAVI minimizes soil brightness effects to better reflect sparse vegetation, and BSI identifies areas of exposed soil.
This can be used to calculate weighted vegetation change with a high degree of certainty.
